Concept

Homo Deus is an interactive installation inspired by Yuval Noah Harari's book, which explores how modern humans, through technology, attempt to assume divine attributes: control over time, omniscience, immortality, destruction, and judgment.

The spectator enters an immersive space where they can manipulate videos with their gestures, but soon discovers that the perceived power is merely a technological illusion.

How it works

The installation is developed in TouchDesigner, with body tracking via Kinect 360 and MediaPipe. When the spectator approaches:

  • The left arm controls time (forward/backward in the videos)
  • The right arm activates glitch and pixel sorting effects
  • In the absence of interaction, the provocative text appears: "Do you want to feel like a god?"

The Themes

Time Manipulation

A clock with accelerated hands overlaps a run through the landscape: nature is compressed and distorted as if it were a video file.

Immortality

A nanorobot in the blood eliminates superfluous cells. Eternal life appears as an algorithmic maintenance of the body.

Destruction

An airplane drops an atomic bomb on a city. Destruction becomes a divine gesture, yet ruthlessly human.

Judgment

A scale shows a "like" and a "dislike". Today every user feels like an absolute judge thanks to social media.
