Connection arises from the urgency to question the relationship between body and technology. In an era where the boundary between organic and digital is becoming increasingly thin, the performance poses an essential question: are we controlling the machine, or is the machine defining our movements?
The cables, artificial veins of a technological organism, become the physical symbol of this tension. They wrap, constrict, and connect. The performers attempting to free themselves represent the individual's struggle to maintain their autonomy within a system that simultaneously integrates and binds them.
Real-time visual processing closes the circle: human gestures are captured, digested, and returned by the machine in the form of an image. The audience thus witnesses a double layer of reality, the physical one on stage and the digital one of the projection—two dimensions that feed off each other without ever completely coinciding.
Connection nasce dall'urgenza di mettere in discussione il rapporto tra corpo e tecnologia. In un'era in cui il confine tra organico e digitale diventa sempre più sottile, la performance pone una domanda essenziale: siamo noi a controllare la macchina, o è la macchina a definire i nostri movimenti?
I cavi, vene artificiali di un organismo tecnologico, diventano il simbolo fisico di questa tensione. Avvolgono, stringono e connettono. I performer che tentano di liberarsi rappresentano la lotta dell'individuo per mantenere la propria autonomia all'interno di un sistema che lo integra e lo vincola allo stesso tempo.
L'elaborazione dei visual in tempo reale chiude il cerchio: i gesti umani vengono catturati, digeriti e restituiti dalla macchina sotto forma di immagine. Il pubblico assiste così a un doppio livello di realtà, quello fisico sul palco e quello digitale della proiezione—due dimensioni che si nutrono a vicenda senza mai coincidere del tutto.
The Anatomy of the PerformanceL'Anatomia della Performance
The performance opens with the beginning of the sound component produced by Andrea Antonelli. The two performers enter simultaneously, emerging from the darkness of the environment. On stage there are two chairs and a basket of cables and electronic components positioned in the center, between the two stations.
Each performer takes cables from the basket and ties themselves up, wrapping themselves in an inextricable tangle of cables and electronic components.
This physical and sonic performance is digitally processed in real time by a computer, which returns the visual processing through a projection behind the performers on stage.
At the end of the backing track, the performers leave from where they came, stumbling and crawling, still tied by the cables, while the lights go out. The visuals are created in real time with Touchdesigner and Kinect v2.
La performance si apre con l'inizio della componente sonora prodotta da Andrea Antonelli. I due performer entrano contemporaneamente, emergendo dall'oscurità dell'ambiente. Sul palco sono posizionate due sedie e una cesta di cavi e componenti elettronici al centro, tra le due postazioni.
Ogni performer prende dei cavi dalla cesta e si lega, avvolgendosi in un groviglio inestricabile di cavi e componenti elettronici.
Questa performance fisica e sonora viene elaborata digitalmente in tempo reale da un computer, che restituisce l'elaborazione dei visual attraverso una proiezione dietro i performer sul palco.
Al termine della base musicale, i performer escono da dove sono entrati, inciampando e strisciando, ancora legati dai cavi, mentre le luci si spengono. I visual sono creati in tempo reale con Touchdesigner e Kinect v2.
